Thomas Junior High School @ 9th & Oregon Aves produces one of the greatest basketball players to compete at the High School level at Southern. Coach Dave Dabrow with “Loady” on the varsity in his first year was an outstanding playmaker and scorer, leading Southern to 2 Public League Titles, He amassed 337 points in one season and was named to All-Public and All Scholastic teams. Stan also plays football., baseball, softball and was a track and filed man. In 1974 Jack Ryan, then Scholastic School Editor for the Evening Bulletin named Stan to an All -Star Team that dated back to 1925. Stan went from Southern High directly to the Philadelphia SPHAS to play baseball professionally.
