Paul Della Vecchia ‘62

Paul is proud to have been a student, athlete, teacher and coach at SPHS. He played varsity football, gymnastics, and track and field for Southern and for Southern Illinois University. Paul received awards from the Philadelphia Coaches Association and the Philadelphia Inquirer and Daily News for his All-Public Football team in 1961, He won a NCAA Athletic Scholarship at Southern Illonis University. While at Ilinois his teams won championships in 1965,’65 & ’66.

He graduated with a BA in Education, MS in Secondary Education and Masters Plus 60 Career Teacher in the Philadelphia School District. Paul also coached wrestling and baseball. He coachedt such Southern High stars as Bufus Outlaw, Scott Farnesi and Gary Farnesi.
In the 1980’s , Paul DellaVecchia was a Councilman in Cherry Hill, New Jersey. He was Assistant Director of Parks and Recreation, Township of Cherry Hill. 1982 to 2004 and assistant Softball Coach, Cherry Hill East, 2004. His wife Marge is Executive Director, NJ’s Housing and Mortgage Financing. He is the proud parent of Tony, Michele, Pauley and Abbey. and Grandfather of Nicholas, Jenna, Alyssa & Jackson
