John LaRosa was an 8-letter man in the annuls of Southern’ s great teams in the1950’s. He played JV ball under Mr. Rodgers and Varsity Basketball under Dr. Joe Brancato. He averaged 18 points in his senior year. Mr. Carter was his JV coach in baseball and Mr. Joe Pitts his baseball head coach. He pitched in 11 games of out of a 12 game schedule. John played a year at Temple Prep and 10 years in the Penn-Del League in Philadelphia. He coached boys 8-18 in Pennsauken, Nj for 28 years and 10 yrs. for CYO Basketball league. John was inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame in 2009.
