Fred played both of-
fense and defense for
Southern. He was a
two year starter and
made second team all
public in 1953. Fred
went on to play at
Temple University
where he also played
both offense and de-
fense. Known as the
“cat” because of his
quickness he went on
to win numerous
awards while playing
college football.
