Fran was on the football squad as the linebacker offensive tackle and place kicker. He was 1st Team All-Public as a Defensive End, In Basketball he played both guard and forward. In baseball, he was a catcher and an outfielder. He alternated positions with his brother Bob. At Hofstra University on scholarship, he played defensive end and guard. He was the #1 place kicker in the country – all divisions. Unfortunately, a neck injury ended his college career. He also had received a scholarship from the University of Tennessee as a catcher. He played on the LA Dodger AA Farm team and coached in Florida High Schools. Fran was inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame in 1996.
