Dr. Simon Lane, a SPHS Alumni moved west after graduating from Temple University to pursue his medical care. He served the podiatric medical profession for more than 45 years. He held every elective position in the California Podiatric Medical Association (CPMA) with distinction. He ascended through the chairs to become President in 1971. He served as a California delegate to the American Podiatric Medical Ass’n for twenty-seven years. In August of 1996, Dr. Lane received the highest national honor that the profession can bestow upon one of its members. He received the APA’s Distinguished Service Award and was one of the most respected leaders of this organization. Dr. Lane was inducted into the SPHS Cultural Hall of Fame in 1996.
