Dr. Ken Stein ’61

Dr. Kenneth Stein attended Vare
Elementary, Furness Junior High,
Southern (Class of 1961), Temple
University (BA in Biology-1964), and
Temple School of Medicine (1968).
He served a one-year medical internship
at the Einstein Medical Center in
Philadelphia and completed a 3-year
Residency in Dermatology at the Hospital of the University of
Pennsylvania (1969-1972). He served in the U.S. Army (72-74)
as Assistant Chief of Dermatology, Letterman Army Hospital,
Presidio of San Francisco. Ken entered solo practice in June of
1974 as a board- certified dermatologist and dermatopathologist
in Santa Rosa, Ca. After practicing for 42 years, he retired in
2015. Ken continues in his capacity as the Principal Investigator
for Dermatologic Drug Research Studies at Radiant Research
Company (Synexus Research). He has supervised over 50 clinical
drug studies over the past 15 years. He was Assistant Professor of
Dermatology, UCSF, and served as a Director in the 20-30 Club,
and other community charitable organizations. Ken is married
to his SPHS sweetheart, Sandy, for over 52 years. Sandy Austin
Stein, a talented artist, was inducted into the SPHS Cultural Hall
of Fame in 1997. Ken is so honored to return to his origins and
cherished SPHS to receive this special award. His selection is
especially enduring and timely as he celebrates his 75th birthday.
