Carmen played for Southern Highs School in three (3) sports. 1958, 59. And ’60, on the Varsity Baseball Team. In ’58 and “59 he played Junior Varsity Basketball Team. He was an ALL-Public Baseball shortstop that won the City Baseball Championship in 1959.
In 1960 his baseball team won the Public League Title and in [60 the Junior Varsity were Public League Champs. He won a full Basketball scholarship to Temple University in that year. In 1965 Carmen Played Professional baseball as a rookie in the Virginia Minor Leagues
